Impressive o_e
Say, are there other ways of making a real thing out of a 3d model?
Or different question; how stabile is this thing, that you think that you can simply wear it without damaging it?

first question
you can use what is called a 3d printer but they are expensive
i find this is the easiest way to make things and rather cheaply as well

second
this is only the first stage out of five
1. print out on cardboard and put together
2. resin the outside and inside of the model
3. fibreglass the inside of the model and trim edges(those two steps cause the armour to become very strong)
4. smear a paste called bondo onto the model so you can sand it down and get a smooth look
5. paint it

be the end it should be strong enough to use and it needs to be cause i don't plan to stand around in it when i go to see the movie

Sounds exactly like the thing I'm searching for!
I want to cosplay a character from a video game. Here you can see him [link]
It's the guy who looks like a mummy. I've searched for a way to create his skates, and what you're doing sounds like a good way. I'd have to create the top of the skates and wear it like a shell over my own skates. What do you think?

hmm what you are trying to do is fairly standard but they would be tricky and require the cardboard cut-out to be very complex do you think you could make them on the computer yourself
if you are looking for more information just look up pepakura tutorials on the internet they are everywhere

Hmm, the guy who made the pictuire extracted the models from the game itself, so I could ask him for help, but I'm first gonna look up some tutorials to understand how it works ^^
